Childcare Model

We provide a safe place for students to grow, make friends and learn social skills.

Student choice

Wayzata Kids is a choice-based program, which means that students select their own activities from a variety of planned options. This strengthens student engagement and offers students a sense of ownership over their out-of-school time.

School year approach

During the school year, our students enjoy low-structure time before and after school.  We offer a mix of:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Field trips
  • Sports and bike days
  • Clubs and games
  • Outdoor and gym play
  • Relationship and resilience skills

We provide a healthy afternoon snack.

Summer approach

Our 10-week summer program is robust. Students come for the whole day. We offer:

  • STEAM activities
  • Arts and crafts
  • Field trips
  • Sports and bike days
  • Clubs and games
  • Outdoor and gym play
  • Relationship and resilience skills
Snacks and transportation
  • We provide healthy morning and afternoon snacks.
  • Students need to bring their own lunch.
  • We do not provide transportation.

Our team

  • Our teams are made up of the site manager, lead program instructors, program instructors, inclusion assistants and program assistants.
  • We maintain a ratio of one staff member for every 15 students.
  • A nurse and three inclusion specialists support all sites to ensure we are meeting each student’s needs.
